Take time out of your busy life to let go and renew. Restorative Yoga is a gentle therapeutic style of yoga that uses props to support the body in restful still positions. The focus is to quiet the mind and restore the central nervous system. It a soothing and nurturing practice, aided by the soothing glow of soft candlelight. Deeply relax and feel refreshed after an hour and a half group session.

Cost: $36 per guest

Awakening Day Retreat

Join Jess for a very special day retreat to rest your mind, connect with nature, gently move the body, deeply reflect, and connect with others. Hosted at the beautiful The Sound Retreat in Chester CT. This will be time to slow down, de-stress, and participate in deep self care.

 

The day will begin with an opening circle that will include introductions, review of the day, collective intention setting, and opportunity to share. Following this will be a very gentle yoga session and guided meditation.

 

Next participants will be guided on a forest bathing style walk. This will be a silent, slow, meditative, peaceful walk that will encourage all to feel the energy of the land and connect the physical and mental bodies to the earth in a deeply profound way. During this walk you'll be encouraged to pause, breath, and mindfully take in your surroundings.

 

Upon returning to the center a vegan lunch will be served. Please let us know of any allergies or dietary restrictions in writing upon registration.

 

After lunch, participants will be invited to journal. This can be done as a reflection of the day, intuitive free write, sketching, or using the guided prompt. "What intentions would you like to set as you move forward to the second half of 2023? Choose three things, one for yourself, one for your community, and one for the Earth. If you do not have a journaling practice you are invited to use the time to meditate. You'll then be invited to affirm your intentions with a simple, intuitive, nature focused, creative project. This will be followed by discussion and sharing for those drawn to.

 

The day will end with an outdoor, powerful sound immersion experience, followed by a short closing ceremony. The sound immersion uses a variety of instruments such as crystal bowls, gongs, chimes and drums to create a soothing soundscape that ushers the conscious into a deeply relaxed, calm, peaceful, meditative state.

 

The Sound Retreat is located at 96 Cedar Lake Road, Chester CT. Please bring a yoga mat and blanket. Wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. Most of this event will be outdoors so you may consider sunblock and bug spray. Lunch, water, a selection of teas, and materials will be provided, Please email jessica@bodykarmastudio.com upon registration with any allergies or dietary restrictions. Feel free to bring any crystals, talsmains, or any other special gifts from the earth that inspire you and help to create a more sacred space.

Sunset Forest Meditation

Join Jess at Menunketesuck Nature Preserve as she guides you through gentle movements while using mediation as a powerful tool to reduce stress, anxiety, and creating a sense of calmness in the body and mind. You will be enjoy the peaceful setting overlooking the Chapman Mill Pond while  learning skills to enter stressful situations with a sense of equanimity and clarity.

Please bring water and a towel to sit on for meditation. Wear comfortable clothing, sneakers, sunblock and bug spray.

The focus is to quiet the mind and restore the central nervous system. By training the brain through mindfulness it can effectively become reprogrammed to relax the body more easily and to cope better with stress and anxiety. It a soothing and nurturing practice. Deeply relax and feel refreshed after an hour and a half group session.
